Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Varkuna (the "Application") handles information when you download, access, or use the Application. The Application is developed and published by Ali Osman KAHRAMAN (the "Service Provider").
Varkuna is a SSH client and server connection manager. This document covers information collection, third-party services, user rights, retention, children’s privacy, security, and contact details.

Local-first design
Varkuna is designed as a local-first app. Saved SSH connections, snippets, local preferences, and non-secret metadata are stored in the private app storage on your device.
Sensitive credential values such as saved passwords, private key text, private key references, and passphrases are protected locally using Android Keystore backed encryption where supported by the device. Varkuna does not upload saved passwords or private keys to a Varkuna server in the current version.
Third-party services
The current version of Varkuna does not use an advertising SDK, analytics SDK, crash reporting SDK, or Varkuna account server. If future versions add optional cloud, analytics, crash reporting, or billing features, this policy will be updated before or when those changes are published.
SSH sessions and network traffic
When you start an SSH session, Varkuna sends the host, port, username, authentication material, terminal input, and SSH protocol traffic to the server you choose. Commands you type and output returned by the remote server are part of your SSH session.
Varkuna does not send terminal content to a Varkuna backend in the current version. You are responsible for the systems, credentials, commands, and networks you choose to access.
Legal basis for processing
Where the GDPR or similar privacy laws apply, the Service Provider may rely on one or more lawful bases, depending on the processing activity:
- Contract performance, where processing is necessary to provide the Application and its core features.
- Consent, where you choose optional features or where consent is required for advertising, analytics, or similar technologies.
- Legitimate interests, such as maintaining app security, preventing abuse, improving performance, and understanding aggregated usage trends.
- Legal obligation, where processing or disclosure is required by applicable law or valid legal process.
Data retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the Application.
Support emails and related correspondence may be retained as long as necessary to respond to your request, protect legal rights, and maintain records of user communications. Aggregated or anonymized information may be retained because it no longer identifies you.
Children’s privacy
The Application is not directed to children under 16 years of age or a higher age where required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit personal information from children.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the Application or related support channels, contact android@aliosman.com.tr so appropriate action can be taken.
User rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, and information about automated decision-making. California residents may also have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing where applicable, limit sensitive personal information, and non-discrimination.

Artificial Intelligence and automated decision-making
The current version of the Application does not use Artificial Intelligence technologies to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. If AI-based features or automated decision-making features are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated as required.
International transfers
Third-party service providers may process information in countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable law requires safeguards, appropriate mechanisms such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other recognized transfer tools will be used.
Security
The Service Provider uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed in connection with the Application. However, no method of storage, transmission, or device protection is completely secure.
You are responsible for protecting your device, screen lock, account credentials, network access, and any information you choose to send through the Application or to support channels.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the Application changes, third-party services change, legal requirements change, or data handling practices are revised. The updated version will be published with a new effective date.
