Varkuna Legal
Privacy Policy
A clear summary of what Varkuna stores, sends, and protects.
Effective date: May 13, 2026
Overview
Varkuna is an SSH client for Android. It helps you save SSH connections, credentials, command snippets, trusted host fingerprints, and local session preferences.
Varkuna is designed as a local-first app. It does not use an advertising SDK, analytics SDK, crash reporting SDK, or a Varkuna account server in the current version.
Data you provide
Saved connections may include a connection name, host or IP address, port, username, tags, favorite status, linked credential, and trusted host key fingerprint.
Saved credentials may include a label, authentication type, username override, password, private key text, private key file reference, and private key passphrase when you choose to save them.
Snippets and settings may include commands you save, built-in command library state, language preference, keyboard behavior, screen-awake preference, and local PRO entitlement state.
Local storage
Connection profiles, snippets, settings, and non-secret metadata are stored in the private app storage on your device.
Sensitive credential values are stored locally using Android Keystore backed encryption. Varkuna does not upload saved passwords or private keys to a Varkuna server.
Network and SSH sessions
When you start an SSH session, Varkuna sends the target host, username, authentication material, terminal input, and SSH protocol traffic to the server you choose.
Commands you type and output returned by a remote server are part of your SSH session. Varkuna does not send this terminal content to a Varkuna backend in the current version.
Purchases and Google Play Billing
If you buy or restore lifetime PRO access, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. Google may handle payment information according to Google Play and Google Payments policies.
Varkuna receives purchase state from Google Play Billing and stores a local entitlement flag so PRO limits can be unlocked on this device.
Private key files
When you choose a private key file with the Android document picker, Varkuna stores the selected file reference and uses read access only to authenticate SSH sessions that use that credential.
Security
Varkuna uses Android private app storage and Android Keystore based encryption for sensitive credential values stored by the app.
No method of storage or network transmission is perfect. You remain responsible for protecting your device, screen lock, server credentials, and remote systems.
Retention and deletion
Saved connections, credentials, snippets, and settings stay on your device until you delete them in the app, clear app data, or uninstall Varkuna.
Varkuna does not currently operate a cloud account system, so there is no Varkuna server account to delete in the current version.
Children
Varkuna is not directed to children. It is intended for users who manage servers or SSH access.
Changes
This policy may be updated when Varkuna adds new features, data handling practices, or third-party services. The effective date will be updated when changes are published.
